Terrence Sykes
Such a lovely place
lit a joint
rewound that cassette
punched Hotel California
into that chocolate brown
Datsun B-210 dashboard
drove off into the dusk
cursed & prayed
…before this song is over
…before this buzz is over
…before this night is over
I’ll be out of this
god forsaken
coal holler
Terrence Sykes was born and raised in the coal mining mountains of Virginia & this isolation brings the theme of remembrance to his creation….whether real or imagined. His poetry & photography & flash fiction has been published in India, Scotland, Spain and the USA.
