Stomping on Anthills

In this big old goofy world, deer hang on walls

and kittens are born, slimy-wet, into waiting laps.

If you walk into that old house, the time-bent

branches hang in front of warped windows.

There, you see the ants crawling circles,

poison-mad, and wonder if you wandered into

the old house because you, too, are filled with

a madness that will have you walking

the circumference of your childhood,

searching for the diameter that bisects

the good and bad into clean, easily-eaten

slices.

Rebekah lives along the banks of the Tennessee River and enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and thinking deeply about life and its many intricacies. She is a lifelong learner, artist, and writer who often finds that she expresses herself best through poetry.
