Survival


drown your cellphone in the sink,
barricade the door,

eat peaches from
a can.
marvel at cats &
mice & starlings,
keep your fingers out
of car doors and do not cook your meat
too thoroughly.

keep a good book in every
room of your house
and set your dreams
a sail
down a river of lost love.

if you can manage
to get along
without them,
you’ll
be
fine.
